FAQ

Are these food safe/ dishwasher/ microwave/ oven + stove safe? Are there harmful chemicals in the glazes?

Lafayette Avenue Ceramics are designed to be used everyday in your home and kitchen. Kids, roommates, dinner parties- these dishes can handle it all.

All of our ceramics are completely food safe, there is no lead and no harmful chemicals in any of our glazes.

Most ceramics are microwave safe, the exception is any gold adorned items (those spark) and cork backed coasters. Most ceramics are also dishwasher safe. The exception is the cork backed coasters, those should only be wiped clean.

Depending on your beverage or food and microwave usage these ceramics may get hot. Please be careful when taking them out of the microwave or serving hot beverages in your mugs and cups.

These ceramics should not be placed in the oven or used on the stove top. The direct heat can cause ceramics to crack.

How can I clean and care for my ceramics?

Most ceramics are dishwasher safe, with the exception of the cork backed coasters. Those should be wiped clean.

Matte glazes tend to metal mark over time. This is a result of the flatware being softer than the glaze- but don’t worry, its not ruining the glaze. The best way to clean it is with some barkeepers friend or soft scrub. Magic erasers work great too!

If you’re concerned with the appearance of metal marking, choose one of our glossy glazes for your plates and bowls or email us ahead of time with any questions and we can help you choose the best products for your home.

The bottoms of all items are left unglazed showcasing the natural beauty of the clay. We know it’s tempting to get right into that new tv show after dinner, but rinse your plates of any food soon after use to prevent staining.

We use a process that yields a super durable product, but all pottery is inherently breakable- use reasonable caution when washing, handling and stacking your ceramics.

The item I want isn’t in stock- help!

It’s coming back soon! Since we’re a small team and ceramics is inherently finicky, its impossible to keep every item stocked in each color at all times. Please check back soon, we do re-stocks about once a week and usually post on Instagram right after.

You can also check out our Stockist page and see if the item you want is carried in any stores near you!

What is your return policy?

All sales are considered final, and Lafayette Avenue Ceramics does not accept returns. However, we stand by our product want you to be 100% satisfied with your purchase. If you unpack your ceramics and decide they’re not quite right, you can exchange your product for another one of equal or lesser value. Email Emily@lafayetteavenueceramics.com  within 7 days of delivery and please remember that you are responsible for return shipping and the shipping cost of the new product. If your return product arrives to our studio damaged, no refund or exchange will be permitted.

If your item arrives damaged by shipping, please email Emily@lafayetteavenueceramics.com within 7 days of delivery with images of your items in the original packaging and we will help you with a replacement or refund.

Lafayette Avenue Ceramics is not responsible for packages lost due to an incorrect shipping address. Please double check to make sure you entered it correctly!

Will my ceramics look exactly like the images?

We want you to be 100% in love with your new ceramics, so please keep these things in mind when shopping:

Lafayette Avenue Ceramics is a small production studio and each item is handmade individually. Glaze varies from batch to batch and exact sizes can fluctuate within a 1/4 inch. We think this is what makes our ceramics so cool, but this handmade style may not be for everyone.

We take care to photograph our ceramics in daylight and portray them accurately on the website, but different monitors can show color differently.

If this sounds great to you, here’s where you can shop.

If this sounds like you still have some questions, send us an email! We would love to chat, send you some additional photos or help you make a selection.

Sometimes it’s best to shop in person and here is where you can do that.

Do you offer free shipping or pickup for locals? What about discounts if I get a large quantity?

Hey Phoenicians. We’ll deliver for a flat $10 fee in the Phoenix valley area (pro tip: this is great if you want a bulk order or if you and some neighbors want to go in on an order). Please email us before ordering so we can check your zip code and set this up!

Studio pickup is a great idea in theory, but we’ve discovered that it ends up being a bit more of a hassle for all of us. So to save everyone time, we don’t offer pickup.

We do not offer free shipping, but we are 99% plastic free! Follow along on Instagram to see any deals and specials that come up- it happens more frequently than you would think.

Email us for more info about your large order! We would love to work with you to make your dinnerware dreams come true and we have a sliding scale for quantity discounts.

Do you do custom orders? What about wholesale?

If you have an awesome idea, we would love to hear about it! We do custom orders on a case by case basis and you can fill out this form to get started.

We do sell wholesale in the US and Canada and you can find out more here.

Can I add a gift note?

Yes! Email us right after you order with your order number and message and we’ll include it
